This peachy pink boutique offers fashion silhouettes of the late 40's to early 60's translated to modern comfort and fit. Combining vintage inspired brands from different continents together with our house brand we aim to bring out the 50's Bombshell, Hollywood Dame or Vintage Vamp in you. And just so you know; it ain't all poodles and petticoats. We like it classy, we like it sassy, but ooh la la do we like it bad assy!
The girl can't help it... is not only an online shop. We also have a physical store in the trendy neighborhood The Pijp in Amsterdam. In our boutique we offer everything in our webshop and much, much more. We offer personal styling advice and where possible we do small alterations for free so your outfit fits like glove. Sometimes, depending on fabric availabilty, we can make an item from one of our house brands in another color or fabric (we only use our own fabrics). We often have one of a kind items and Sample Sales only in our boutique.
Owner Christina's love for the 50's started in the 80's thanks to Madonna's tribute to Marilyn Monroe in her 'Material Girl' music video. With no internet around in those days and no availability of the old Hollywood movies, she was left with collecting magazine clippings and swooning frequent visits to the library and saving up for postcards and picture books.
With a college degree in tailoring and clothing design Christina set out in the world of fashion and soon discoverd that her passion for vintage and alternative fashion did not coïncide with the commercial fashion styles so she left the dutch fashion scene for many odd jobs. A few years later while visting the USA she came across a niche fashion style she hadn't really seen in Amsterdam yet; the midcentury inspired Pin Up and Rockabilly scene. It was love at first sight..... And there this amazing journey began.
